As a diagnostic method, testicular biopsy can be performed in men with azoospermia (absence of spermatozoa in the ejaculate), as a definitive test to distinguish between secretory and obstructive azoospermia. If a sufficient number of spermatozoa are obtained by the biopsy, the sample can be frozen for later use. However, in cases of men with a partner seeking pregnancy, it is preferable to proceed with ovarian stimulation of the woman and the collection of her oocytes, synchronized with the testicular biopsy.
